EduData API

Every publicly funded Ontario school — directory, EQAO achievement, student demographics, questionnaire results, walking distance and neighbourhood — as an API and a ready-made application. Powered by Mapailytics.

Three ways to use it

Same data, same switches, same billing — mix them freely.

Build it — no code

In the Studio, add the API application block and choose EduData — Ontario schools in the right panel. Map, school search, school card, EQAO, questionnaires, walking distance, neighbourhood and census demographics arrive together.

Embed it

Two lines of HTML on your own website. The Studio gives you the exact code for the parts you chose.

Call the API

Plain HTTPS and JSON: search schools, boards, school profile, and more.

Questions

Do I need to write code?

No. In the Mapailytics Studio: Get EduData, then Add one block: API application, then Show or hide each part, then Publish. Developers can call EduData directly with an API key instead.

What does every result include?

School name and number, board, level, language, grade range, enrolment, address and map location.

Where does the data come from?

School directory and EQAO achievement from the Ontario Ministry of Education (Open Government Licence – Ontario), refreshed each release. Student demographics are the Ministry's school-level percentages. Walking routes come from our own routing engine on OpenStreetMap data.

How is it billed?

Included in the Schools application. Any workspace can also add EduData pay-per-use under Profile → APIs: a set price per 1,000 calls, billed monthly, with a monthly spending limit you choose — calls stop at the limit until you raise it.

Can I put it on a map?

Yes: Schools. Every school in the map's current view, as a point labelled with its name.
